Character Leadership Scholarship

Award amount: The scholarship amount of HKD 20,000 will be distributed equally between two selected students.

Nomination & Application: Candidates for the scholarship will be nominated by their group mentors who will submit reasons to support the nomination. Mentors will nominate one member of their group for the scholarship. Upon successful nomination, the candidate is to submit to the Scholarship Committee an application which will include a short essay on the leadership lessons the student has found most inspirational during the Lead for Life programme, how they intend to put these lessons into practice, and how they plan to use the scholarship funds. Successful awardees will be required to provide a short video report on the use of the funds.

Scholarship Selection:  A short-list of candidates will be chosen on the strength of their applications. These applications will demonstrate that the candidate has engaged fully with the programme as demonstrated through participation in the mentor groups, classes, and service projects, and has grasped some of the uniqueness of character leadership and its goal of building flourishing communities. All short-listed candidates will be interviewed, and two will be selected for the scholarships.  The selection committee will include the HKU Dean of Student Affairs, a Faculty Professor from HKU, the Managing Director of Faith and Global Engagement, an industry leader outside of HKU, and a representative of HKGCC.
